Hand Embroidered Drawing:
Draw with thread and stitch to create beautiful stand-alone images, or a special detail within the composition of a quilt. This class will introduce you to Heidi’s unique methods for handwork and imagery.
Class Highlights Include:
Accurate Drawings, using photographs and printer paper for proportion, we’ll reveal the maker’s hand with a simple toolbox of stitches
Freeform Drawings, learn Heidi’s approach to ‘going for it’ with with a whimsical and lighthearted hand, less concerned with realism, and more concerned with feeling
Text, embroidered to look like your own handwriting
Line, consider line quality and a variety of threads and stitches to translate your imagery
Highlights and Shadow, learn about the times when less stitching can create more light and beauty in a composition, and similarly—learn to create dense stitches and silhouettes in strategic areas for maximum impact
Class Outline:
View the class content and begin sewing at your own pace
22 minutes of introductory techniques (6 recordings total, 3 knots, 3 stitches, appliqué, piecing, threading a needle, thimble use, and unpicking stitches)
52 minutes of succinct and easy to re-play embroidery demos (7 recordings total)
