Mending by Hand:

This class invites you to approach mending in a way that prioritizes comfort, functionality, aesthetics. Heidi will teach you the problem-solving skills required to repair the unique garment and wear-pattern before you.

Class Highlights Include:

1. Handwork: no sewing machine required, these techniques are for hand-sewing, and are beginner friendly—they will also fascinate experienced sewists who are eager to learn Heidi’s approach to mending.

2. Diverse Examples: mending examples include quilts, a purse strap, hoodie, cardigan, cashmere sweater, wool coat, pajama pants, jeans, shoes, tights, a shear dress shirt, sweatpants, leggings, and even an IKEA bed frame.

3. Focus on Comfort: learn how to hide knots, maintain stretch, drape, hand, & size while restoring functionality.

4. Efficiency: real-time mending videos help you understand how long mending takes, and helps you decide how much time you want to invest by comparing techniques like a fast appliqué patch with thread-weaving.

5. Visibility: see examples of high-contrast visible mending alongside examples of subtle mending.
