Materials: Repurposed Topo Chico mineral water glass bottle, cotton and linen fabrics, cotton batting scraps, hand sewn

Year Completed: 2021

Dimensions: 10” tall, 4” to 5” wide

Exhibitions: "Heidi Parkes," Gallery 224, Port Washington, WI (2021)

Quilted around a repurposed glass bottle, my vases are an environmentally-friendly way to use my scraps from binding my quilts. They grew out of my work during my artist’s residency with the Artservancy. Decorative and sculptural, they can also hold water and a single-stem flower.

This quilt is named for my friend Alexandria, Ale for short, because the rose and stripe fabric in the vase is something inherited from my mom, that I used for the first time in a baby quilt for Ale’s daughter in 2014.
